Abstract:
Background: Hair loss is a prevalent concern affecting a significant portion of the population. While various treatments exist, their efficacy varies, prompting the exploration of alternative interventions. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, a novel approach gaining popularity, involves injecting a patient’s processed blood, rich in concentrated platelets containing growth factors, into the scalp to stimulate hair growth.
Objective: This multi-centre study aimed to rigorously investigate the effectiveness of PRP therapy in hair restoration by conducting a comprehensive analysis of outcomes.
Methods: The study enrolled 50 patients experiencing hair loss, who underwent PRP therapy at private setups. This procedure included drawing the patient’s blood, processing it to concentrate platelets, and subsequently injecting them into the scalp. The patients were closely monitored for six months to 1 year, and the results were meticulously analysed using statistical methods.
Results: The study revealed significant improvements in hair density, thickness, and overall coverage in the majority of patients subjected to PRP therapy. These outcomes were consistent with previous research, positioning PRP therapy as an effective intervention for hair restoration.
Conclusion: The findings of this study underscore the efficacy of PRP therapy in addressing hair loss. The positive results, coupled with its minimally invasive nature, make PRP therapy a promising option for individuals seeking effective hair restoration. Further research and larger scale studies are warranted to validate these findings and refine treatment protocols.
